David's Family
David Aaron Penry was born in 1968 in San Angelo, Texas while I was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base. He attended college at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio, graduating Magna Cum Laude with both a bachelor’s and a Master of Science in Computer Engineering. He then spent two years as a missionary Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Argentina. He then returned to Ohio for a MBA at Ohio State University. He is multi-lingual, and has worked in banking in Siberia and in Ohio. He then worked as a Computer Engineer for Sun Microsystems in Silicon Valley. While in California he met his wife Sherise Slaugh and they married in 1997. They moved to New Jersey where he obtained a Master’s and a PhD in Computer Engineering from Princeton University in New Jersey. He then became a Professor of Computer Engineering at Brigham Young University in Provo Utah. After 10 years, he left academia and returned to industry designing computer chips for cell phones for a company with a contract with Sansung in South Korea. His work, both at the college and corporate level has involved writing, consulting, and speaking at conferences world-wide. Sherise was a missionary in South America, has a degree in education and teaches Spanish. David and Sherise adopted a brother and sister, Danielle and Riley. David and Sherise both teach classes at their church.
