Chapter 2-1 - Family Members

In this chapter, I will discuss my family, both mine and my wife’s parents, siblings, and of course our children and grandchildren.  Besides the comments, there will be some pictures.  I have thousands of pictures of family members.  I will not attempt to place them all in this publication.  However, if any family members would like all of the pictures, I will download them onto thumb drives and give them to interested family members.  Remember that I am adopted.  I will have information about both my birth and adopted family members.  The family information provided does not have much detail.  I have a Family History Program, Ancestral Quest that provides more detailed information about the family.  I can share this file with any family member.

Note:  All of the pictures are in photo galleries as thumbnails.  If you click on any image, it will then display full size. After you click on an image, you can scroll through the gallery using the arrows next to the picture.

Parents - Mine and Mary's

There are two photo galleries.  The first is my birth father – Paul David Penry, born 1916 in Ohio died 1991 in Ohio.  He married my mother in 1939 and divorced in 1945.  He was a WWII soldier in the Pacific.

The second photo gallery is of my adopted father, Henry J. Gilliam, born 1922 in Kentucky and died 2002 in Florida.  He married my Mother, Doris Luella Thomas, born 1922 in Ohio and died 2005 in Ohio. They married in 1946. My died was a WWII soldier in Europe.  Since he was junior, everyone called him Bud, not Henry.

The third photo gallery is Mary’s parents. Her father, Earl Thomas Smith was born 1903 in Tennessee and died 1984 in Tennessee.  Her mother, Mary Beatrice Davis was born 1903 in Tennessee and died 1986 in Tennessee.  They were married in 1922 in Tennessee.  Earl was a coal miner, and Mary was a practical nurse and homemaker.  They lived in both Tennessee and West Virginia.  Mary also lived in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.

Siblings - Mine and Mary's

There are two galleries, Bob’s Sister Ruthellens Family, and Mary’s Siblings, Wilma, Raymond, Lora, and Bill.  Mary only has one sibling still living, her older sister, Wilma Bladden.   The first sibling, Richard died in infancy of crib death in 1924, Raymond died in 1978 of lung cancer.  He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, her sister, Lora died in 2018 of heart disease and diabetes.  Her brother Bill died in 2015 of complications of heart disease and diabetes.
